Great Trees of the World

Deep harmony & connection with Nature
Brings peace & endurance
Helps one know their reality & dissolves illusions

This section is dedicated to Great Trees of the World. Trees which, by their age, their position, their personality, and their accumulated wisdom, have developed a unique essence quite distinct from that of their kind.

These ancient trees often inspire awe in those who take time to view them. However, often tourists flock to these trees, taking a quick photo and moving on, without stopping to really take in the majesty of the tree, to allow subtle communication to occur, to partake of a timeless wisdom. These great trees speak most clearly in silence and in contemplation.

When you do take time to sit in communion with one of these unique giants, you feel an immense presence and can often have a sense of being overcome by the benevolence and wisdom that the Great Tree seeks to impart to you. These great trees link us profoundly with the earth, with our roots, our ancestry. They remind us of the legacy of the past and our strong links to the world of plants and trees. They take us back to a time when there was a greater sense of reverence of nature, to tribal, indigenous peoples who lived in profound connection to nature and its cycles.

These ancient trees depend on the forests or trees around them to provide the right environment for their continued life. Many of these forests are under severe pressure from logging operations or deforestation to generate agricultural land.

The essences taken from these trees, hundreds or even thousands of years old as they are, are very deep-acting and produce lasting, foundational changes in our lives.

On the Levels of Essence Action diagram, these great trees often have an action from levels 5 right through to 10.

As time progresses, many more great trees will join the initial list of six essences, collected from all parts of the globe.

  • (Acts at essence levels 7-10, see ‘Levels of Essence Action’)

  • Tane Mahuta is the largest living New Zealand Kauri. It is truly the lord of the forest. It is generally believed to be between 2,000 and 2,500 years of age.

In the traditional Maori view all living creatures and natural resources are descendants of the Tane Mahuta and Tangaroa, gods born of the Sky Father and Earth Mother.

Tane Mahuta Tree Bark Essence confers the quality of endurance at a deep level. It is about the strength to keep on standing for one’s truth and path in life. It is the essence that avails most when that path has become very difficult, and the strength to stand is ebbing. It grants a revitalization of strength at a deep level, to endure, and in the end, to prevail.

Tane Mahuta was probably a small Kauri tree around the time of the birth of Christ. Tane Mahuta kept standing through the subsequent 2,000 years of history. It stood through the fall of the Roman Empire, through the Dark Ages, the Middle Ages, through the English Colonisation of New Zealand, through two world wars. Tane Mahuta is the great master of continuing to stand with strength, endurance and transcendence of life’s trying circumstances.

An affirmation to use with this essence:

"I grant you my strength to stand, through tempest and storm, through heat and cold, through lightening strike, through all of life’s tribulations. I will help to kindle and rekindle the flame and spark of your own inner life, to accomplish your goals and aspirations in the world."

Te Matua Ngahere

  • (Acts at essence levels 7-10, see ‘Levels of Essence Action’)

  • Not far away from Tane Mahuta in Waipoua Forest, north island of New Zealand is Te Matua Ngahere, or "Father of the Forest."

Te Matua Ngahere has an enormous girth (59 feet) and is free of branches for 33 feet from the ground.

The Falling Leaf Essence of Te Matua Ngahere shows to us the mental illusions in our existence. It progressively reveals reality as it really is- with our rose-coloured glasses taken off.- with a gentleness, patience and grace.

Sometimes the rose-coloured glasses are there to prevent us from seeing ourselves as we really are, and our own deep need for inner change. Sometimes, we have refused to see others as they are really, perhaps because of our own need for friendship, or to protect ourselves from pain.

Te Matua Ngahere reminds us of the importance of seeing reality as it really is. Ngahere reminds us that putting on the rose-coloured glasses now to avoid present pain leads to more pain later. Te Matua Ngahere challenges us to be genuine, to see our lives and reality as it really is.

An affirmation to use with this essence:

"I will show you illusion in your existence, progressively as you are able to understand and bear it. Although your illusions seek to protect yourself from pain, seeing reality as it really is grants you an extraordinary freedom."

  • Adult dosage – Take 3 drops 3 times daily, orally or apply to wrist and gently massage.

Child dosage – Take 2 drops once daily

  • (Acts at essence levels 6-9, see ‘Levels of Essence Action’)

  • The Falling Leaf Essence of Tane Mahuta affords release of old sexual programming and patterns that aren’t appropriate any more. Deeply embedded in our collective consciousness are many old misplaced religious notions around sexuality. These old notions include enormous fear and guilt along with the idea that the body and its functions are evil, or at least inferior to more spiritual pursuits.

Many of these old notions lead to a separation of spirituality and sexuality. The Falling Leaf Essence of Tane Mahuta not only resolves this old programming, but further to this reveals its true jewel in the crown, the emergence of one’s own sexuality. The essence unites spirituality and sexuality in a profound and lasting way.

An affirmation to use with this essence:

"And so it is that I grant my seed to spawn new forests. In reproduction I truly know myself, and in that self-knowing is ecstasy and bliss. I will help you see that love and sexuality are doorways to greater self-knowledge, and greater integration of oneself.’

  • Adult dosage – Take 3 drops 3 times daily, orally or apply to wrist and gently massage.

  • Not far from Tane Mahuta live the Four Sisters, four giant Kauri trees that stand together in close proximity. The Tree Bark from the Four Sisters has to do with standing together, with true unity and harmony. So much more can be accomplished in life when we can overcome our differences, our selfish motives, our petty individualism, and pull together as a team.

The essence reveals and sorts out improper motives, and generates a stronger bonding of the members of any team. And if a particular member of the team isn’t appropriate, this essence might reveal that fact.

The Tree Bark Essence from the Four Sisters works on the group energy via the individual who takes it. If several members of the group take the essence, the action is enhanced. The action of the essence is deep and progressive over two weeks to three months.

An affirmation to use with this essence:

‘We grant to you the great strength that comes from standing together in peace and harmony. Know not only yourself, but also your brother and sister alongside you. Feel the pulse of their heartbeat and let your hearts beat together in unison. For deep beyond the veil of illusion of separate existence, we are all one.’
